Summer at last!!! I have to kick things into gear and start getting crafty again! This year is just flying by - I can't believe it is June already. Which brings me to this card - which I did for my parents 40th anniversary. I hope they had a very happy anniversary on the fourth - They were lucky enough to get away and go cruising!

For this card I played along with the Play Date Cafe and Verve's splitcoast challenge. I was thrilled to see that TPD's color story of pinks and greens played right into the new BG paper I just picked up at the Ink Pad when I was in NYC over the holiday weekend. (Any excuse to use new toys right!)

Wow - it is hard to believe it is March already - where is this year going!?!? I am hoping that since March came in like a lion this year that it will be going out like a lamb. I am getting tired of snow and I am ready for spring to come!

This is a card that I have done for The Play Date Cafe's Challenge of B & W and splash of ANY color and CARDS blog of St. Patrick's Day card.

Interior

The fact that it was a St Patricks Day card kinda made the color choice quite easy :-) but I love the crispness of the green against the white - (can you tell I am ready for spring - and a little color!) I have been playing a bit more with my Cricut lately, and used a label template from Penny Duncan Creations for the main label. She has some great files out there - I had been itching to play with some of them. I will definetly be playing with more in the future!

It's been awhile.....

Hello All! I know, I know - it has been hard to back into the swing of life after the holidays! It seems like everything has been keeping busy and not leaving much time for paper crafting - but here I am. The Play Date Cafe had some excitement over on their challenge blog this week - a combined challenge! Oh what fun it was to play along this week (although it is always fun to play there!) This week they have teamed up with CASEStudy blog (definitely another going in my follow list!) This card was the result of the two challenges. A bit whimsical, a pinch of paper piecing and a ton of fun! It is hard to catch all the deets in a picture and there are tons. The mushrooms are pieced and smooched, the cloud has glitter in the lines behind for that little extra shimmer and the raindrops are crystal effect'd.

Boy was it great to get some crafting time in this weekend!

It has been a while since I was able to get in my room and get crafty. First up is a card I did for The Play Date Cafe - I love their challenges and this weeks was no exception. Black and White with a touch of Lilac -I totally agree that Lilac is often overlooked! It also gave me a chance to play with some backgrounder stamps I had gotten from Cornish Heritage Farms - so sad they closed :-(

It's been a while....

Well...it's been a while but I finally got crafty again after a little break and boy, did it feel good to get back into the thick of it again! I think I needed some major recharging after the holidays!

I did this card with one of my Christmas gifts - I love Boyd's Bears - and to see them in rubber - heaven! The sketch is from CPS and I used the color scheme from Color Throwdown - I thought it was the perfect colors for Bailey and her Bees! I used colored pencils for the entire image with a little bit of crystal effects for the honey (even though it does not show on the picture)

Hello everyone - Everyone enjoying the crazy weather lately?! Up here we are currently digging out of the snow the Midwest was so nice to send our way :-) I am not thrilled with it all - but the dogs are in thier glory! The only good thing, if it keeps up like this, we are definitely having a white Christmas! Todays card is for the Play Date Cafe and Cards Magazine Blog challenges. I love using the non traditional colors and blues and purples are my faves. (I have used both as themes in my x-mas decorating!) For the tree - I played around with my embossing powder and used three different colors to echo the patterned paper.

Thanksgiving Parade

Hi all! Just a quick post - I am in beautiful NYC for the Thanksgiving holiday and was lucky enough to get to see some of the Macy's Parade. The friend we come down to stay with when we are here is lucky enough to work in a building a street over from the parade route. 19 stories up we could see the parade pretty well, stay warm and away from the BIG crowds ;-) But anyway here is a little bit of what I was able to see! I think I might try to get down there for the beginning of the parade next year.

I hope everyine is having a safe and fun Thanksgiving weekend!

Crowd disbursing after Santa goes by - in 10 mins you wouldn't know there was a parade that went by. By noon traffic was back to normal at the beginning of the route.

One street over - parade stops every 5 -10 mins to let cross traffic go - but pedestrians don't let the traffic get in the way!

Just a quick post to share with you a card I did for the Cards Magazine Challenge blog. This weeks challenge was thank you cards - I think everyone can always use more of those - I know I never have them on hand when I need them! I kept it simple to let the beautiful flowers from Verve shine. After stamping, I watercolored them with Tumbled Glass Distress ink (definitely my favorite DI color!) and then used Smooch in Pool and Moonlight to add a little shimmer to them. Very striking IRL, it is not coming through in the picture.

Countdown to Turkey Day! - Hard to believe that the holidays are sneaking up on us! I can't wait - we are heading to NYC for a mini vaca - I love seeing the city all dressed for Christmas!

I did todays card for Viva La Verve over at SCS and The Play Date Cafe color challenge - Red, olive and Turquoise. Not your traditional christmas-y colors but it works just the same. I love Fall! The colors, the crisp air and the pumpkins! Hello All! Today I am sharing I card I did for my best friend's birthday - which is today! Sending out big hugs for your Birthday today, Shawn!

I used a little simpler version of the Mojo Monday sketch. I knew when I had seen this super cute paper in the Basic Grey "Oliver" pack that I sooo wanted to use this - Shawn has been a big train fan since way back in the day ;-). I paired it with one of the new Studio G $ stamps, which I colored in using my copics. You can't really tell to much from the pic, but I used little puff EB powder for the steam - I have been wanting to play with the EB but really haven't had a chance to until now. An alphabet charm on a paperclip and crystals on the sentiment finishes off the final touches.

Hello everyone! I know it has been awhile since I have posted anything but things have settled and I found some time to play with a couple challenges this weekend. I played with the Play Date Cafe’s color challenge of melon and green – which I think is a beautiful color combo for Christmas (but I like non-traditional pairings!) I also used CPS’s Sketch challenge. I love this humorous little sizlit that came with a couple Basic Grey Embossing folders! I paired it with my Lotus Spellbinder that I have been dying to use. It is not quite finished yet – the more I am looking at it - I think I will add a merry Christmas sentiment in the bottom corner.

Me and Grandma at Niagra Falls

Hello Everyone - Sorry to have been MIA lately - but my Grandmother recently lost her battle with cancer.

My Grandmother was a huge inspiration in many areas of my life but I will especially miss her unfailing enthusiasm of crafting. She was always my best cheerleader and was so happy to have something to share and to teach me. Not only was she a big reason I got started in card making, but also taught me to knit and crochet.

Growing up, my Grandmother, being Agorophobic, never ventured farther than her yard, but in the last year of her life, we were able to find medication to help her. We were lucky enough to be able to open the world back up to her again, and boy was it fun! I am so happy to have had the chance to have these memories to remind me - I will miss her greatly.

Thank you Grandma - it was fun!

I have a couple of cards for todays FWF - thanks for stopping in today.

First up is a card I did for Basic Grey Challenges (use fabric). I am sooo in love with my tattered florals Sizzix die by Tim Holtz - it can cut through anything beautifully. For the flower I used an old pair of jeans I hadn't gotten around to getting rid of -now I am glad I didn't! (See, procrastinating does pay off!) I layred it with a piece of cork to break up the denim and roughed up the edges of the faric a little bit. I topped it all off with a little birdie stamp from the Aug KOM stamped on paper from the Junebug collection.

This next one is for a couple different challenges - Color Throwdown(Kraft, Saffron, and Choc.Chip), CPS, and Cards Magazine. The center sentiment is also from the Aug KOM. It is hard to tel but there is a Kraft color base hiding underneath it all :-)!

Hello again! Just Finished another card for a couple challenges - a one word card for the Cards Blog and OCC's color challenge. The colors for OCC just screamed Fall to me - I can't wait for Fall - it is my favorite season. Hello and happy Friday all! Another weekend here to enjoy! After a week of not much mojo - and boy have I heard about it - I did get this card done for Verve's challenge over at SCS.

I have had these gorgeous Martha Stewart butterflies to glitter up for it seems like forever. Everytime I go to play with them they never seem to go with what I am doing. It is amazing what can be done with some double sided adhesive! I stamped my own paper with tumbled glass distress ink and a backgrounder stamp with a Unity flower. Here is my inspiration pic.

Todays card was made using the Jan '10 KOM and I tought the sentiment was soo perfect. (If you are looking for past kits - I got mine here.) I also decided to play around with the scrunchy ribbon I have been seeing everywhere :-) It was easier to do than expected but I don't know how the staying power is going to be - I think my ribbon was too heavy - it is popping off a little in places.

Hello all! Well - I have gotten in some crafty time this weekend and put this together for the Get Sketchy challenge, Embellish challenge and the Cards Magazine challenge. The handmade flowers were easy-peasy to do - I punched out about 6 pieces of lighter weight paper with a scalloped hole punch, punched a hole in the center and inserted a brad. After the brad was in, I scrunched up each layer - Easy and cute. I came across a couple tutorials showing this technique one day as I was surfing the blogs and don't remember where I had saw them.

I also wanted to share this card done for the Verve Anni-verve-sary Release Week Challenges. Go check out the SCS forum, Julee has posted 5 sketches to play along with for a chance to win some Verve-y goodness. I used Maureen's Wild Card Color Challange as my colors - I have been wanting to play along with some of the color combos. I figured this would be the perfect time seeing as she is the Guest Diva for August!

After realizing it was Fri. the 13th I should've done halloween cards - but I am stuck with Christmas ones instead! ;-)

These little minis are done for the Caardvarks challenge.

I love how quick and easy they were to do! The center circles, after running them through the Spellbinders die - i ran through my Xyron and covered them with glass microbeads to give them a frosty (pun intended) look. I thought that the christmas circle from one of my Unity KOM's were perfect for this - (I was lucky enough to pick up this older kit here - I think she is running a sale too!) love that little snowman!

This is my second post for today - For my H{ippity} Hop post please scroll down.

Since I was up early in the morning this weekend I was able to play a bit more than normal. So I played with a few sketches and challenges. Stamptacular's challenge this week was something for the boys - for some reason I always think rock music when I think of boys. Don't ask me why - I know rock music isn't only for boys - heck I like rock music! But anyway - I dug out this way cool jukebox from an old Unity KOM cause I thought it looked boy-ish. I colored it up using my prisma colored pencils and smooch (to give it that old time plastic light look) stickled bubbles around it for more color and heat embossed the sentiment with Zing glitter EB powder. It all makes for a very sparkly card - so maybe it is more Disco than Rock - lol! I laid it out using the sketch from CPS added the brads at the bottom and done! This is also for OCC's Embossing challenge. Fun, fun, fun to do!

I also played along with All things Unity back to school challenge, and CAS-tastic's Case a DT Member (which was Deb - find here gorgeous creation here.) This one was quick and easy using a schoolhouse from Unity and numbers from "Life's Little Moments" by {ippity}.

This morning I have a card that was done using Verve' Friday Challange over at SCS - if you haven't checked it out - i recommend it - the sketch's are fab and the inspiration is insane!

I love this little saying from the "Faith Blooms" set - and it does have an inside portion as well to finish the sentiment.

And here is the pic that inspired me (well one of them at least - this was not the first pic that got me started. This card went through three incarnations before I settled on something I was happy with!)

{Hippity} Hop - A Good Book

Hello my fellow {hippity} hoppers! I hope everyone had a good weekend and are prepared for the upcoming week!

Today I have a very simple card I did for two challenges Simplicity's One Layer Wednesday and Bling it up for CAS-tastic Challenges.

I so love the look of simple when I see what everyone else does - but I find it so hard to do myself. I always feel that since I am making the card that every cool thing I have ever learned/done has to be presented on one card. It almost seems like cheating to stamp simply and leave it - know what I mean!?!? I used Smooch on the butterfly from Book's a Flutter to give him a little shimmer, a little blingy thing behind him and that is the sum total of what I did to this card. Lots of fun - easy and fast!

I made this anniversary card using Verve’s Budding Blossoms and the sentiment from Anniversary Birds (and Verve’s colors!). I love the fact that the Budding Blossoms set is sooo versatile! I colored in the flower using my prismacolor pencils (my favorite!) inked around the edges of the Spellbinders label – that has been a favorite technique of mine lately!
I used the sketch from the SCS Verve challenge – I thought that would be appropriate :) As we are working our way around the house this year for inspiration (master bedrooms this month) Amber was nice enough to open up the inspiration a little further to an entire web site. Good thing – I saw this paper and knew I wanted to use it for this blog hop! Here is my inspiration from Bed, Bath and Beyond.

Hello! I was playing around in my craft room this morning and decided to play along with The Play Date Cafe's color challenge. As I was looking at the color scheme of black and white with a splash of green, I immediately thought of Halloween! Lucky for me Inkadinkado just brought out their fall $ stamps - and a ton of them are for Halloween. So after much moving and re-orginizing, I dug out my halloween stuff to pla with. I used black magic paper in my skeleton scrollwork EB folder and brought out the white underneath, I also did one with black magic in purple that came out really cool to! The scary house is sponged around the edges with shabby shutters distress ink (the house reminds me of the Bates House!) the beware is a rub on I had gotten clearanced out last year at Target. I also put a couple green crystals in the skeletons eyes at the top and bottom of the card - you can't really tell in the pic.

Just Because

Well today is going to be a two-fer. I was able to squeeze out a little time to get a couple cards done.

The first I wanted to get done since I needed a thank you card to get out to my vet. We had some allergy problems with our female and they were very very patient with a distraught mom! Now our little miss Mocha Chip is back to normal with no puffiness and we didn’t even need surgery for it – yeah!! I used the sketch from Clean and Simple Stamping (congrats for the 100 mark!), Creative Inspirations (use an animal), and the color combo from Color Q ( even though I am too late!)

For today's hop I broke out a set I haven't gotten inky yet - I don't know why - it was one of the ones that I first loved when I saw {ippity}. It is just a fun little set (and for sale here!)! After finding this paper in a pack that Mom, Grandma and I split – I knew exactly what set I had to use. I
used the sketch from CPS – what a nice clean sketch! I Stamped the goldfish on some really cool gold sparkle paper I had lying around using my staz-on so he wouldn’t rub off.

Happy Friday Everyone - TGIF! Well - it has been such a fun week sharing my love of Unity with you guys! I will definitely have to do this again! Today I decided to play along with a couple different challenges. The Play Date Cafe and CPS. PDC has the pretty colors of Purple, Lilac, and Lime - very striking colors. They center paper came about as I was talking to my Grandmother and she was telling a cool new technique she just saw done over a Paper Wishes (if you go to the webisode it is about 15min in.). Take a shallow dish of water and touch the tip of your smooch color in several spots with as many colors as you would like. After I did that I took a knitting needle and swirled all the colors around to make it look marbleized. I thought it matched the very psychedelic look of the mushrooms. So Thanks to Grandma for a new technique!

Helloooo! Happy Thursday - almost Friday woohoo!! I am here with my fourth day of Growing in Unity - what a great way to be able to showcase all ever growing collection of Unity stamps I am getting! I don't know what they do to that rubber - I think they put something in it to get you addicted to it! ;-) Today I am using the Brave Girl set. This set is absolutely gorgeous when you see it in real life and it is HUGE! I am playing along with a couple challenges here - the 2 sketches 4 you sketch and the color challenge from Color Throwdown. I love, love, love this color combo - definitely one of my favorite combos. I thought it might be a good time to drag out some chunky MS Glitter that I had to have and haven't used yet (you can't really tell but the green glitter is vintage leaf glitter - very cool looking) I thought the paper just didn't have the bling I wanted so I added my own - what a great thing glitter is! I love the brave girl sentiment but was thinking it was to huge for the card, when I remembered I got some ShrinkyDink paper (with my half price coupon somewhere, natch!) I stamped and shrunk and it was perfect size - will be playing with that technique more in future!

Embellish Magazine – Invitation and Unity

Hello and thank you for joining me on my second day of my Growing in Unity week! So far it has been a blast – Unity is easily one of my favorite Stamp companies – they have some of the freshest and unique sentiments and images! Well – if you head over to the Embellish Magazine blog you will find that they are hosting a challenge over there. I did my take on this challenge – Unity is putting a Soirees and Such stamp set up for grabs and boy could I use it! Here is my take on the challenge of Red, Green and Gold/Kraft(Thank goodness for Kraft!) It also goes with the CAS-tastic challenge of Kraft.
I used a couple different KOM’s for the image and sentiment . It is a little hard to tell from this picture, but the cups and coffee pot are paper pieced, and a little bit of Stickles to the table and chairs to add a little color and shimmer to the image.

Happy Friday all – hope everyone here in the NE is enjoying the heat wave! I haven’t been able to do much crafting – but at least I am getting to enjoy the pool this year!

Here is a thinking of you card that I did with my {ippity} stamps – for sale here – from the set “Now & Always” I had fun paper piecing the smaller flower with paper from Basic Grey, coloring in the stem with markers and finishing off with a little bling and ribbon. What a great way to cheer someone up by letting them know you care!

Hello all! Happy Friday and that means it is time for friends with Flair! Today I have a couple cards that I have been working on during the week. I had to do a couple sympathy cards for my guy this week – so I broke out my brandy new Donna Downey for Unity "Artist in You" set. What versatile stamps – they really do work for any occasion. I also broke out my June SSK for the other card – love, love, love that SSK! The sentiment on the blue card is a Rub on from MSE – they work sooo well – they are one of my favorite rub on's to use; they have some very nice sentiments. The other sentiment is from {ippity}'s "Regal Greetings" set which I have for sale here. I kept them quite simple because they do need to go through the mail, and they just seemed be better with less on them.

I originally did this card for last weeks challenge of paper piecing(not that I need a challenge to do it!) but I totally spaced and didn't upload to SCS - oh well! It is coming at you for the hop instead! Using Color Q's colors as inspiration - I paper pieced the cute little houses from "What Matter Most" and used the sentiment from "Simply Home", a couple crystals to add a little sparkle. I wanted to keep it nice and simple to balance out the busy-ness of the papers. Hope everyone has a great day - and happy hopping!

Well - the best thing about rainy days - I get lots of crafting done! :-) As I was out wandering in the blogging universe I came across the challenge over at the Cards blog for a fourth of July card. This worked out perfectly since I just got Unity's stamp set "Unity in America" you can only find it over at MMC - it is an exclusive to them. It is a really great set - I really liked it since it has all the branches emblems and being a navy brat.......well lets just say that gave me extra incentive to get it! Perfect for this time of year! The sentiment was perfect for the distressed paper I thought I would use, a little distressing of the embossed panel, and coloring in the image with distress ink and a watercolor pen, stacked some butttons over the string and I was done. Hopefully it will be a little sunnier tomorrow so I can get some yard work done - but it was nice to have a crafting day!

I have been wanting to use this stamp for forever - I thought it was just a fun, happy, summer-y kind of stamp. Up here in rochester these can be a common sight with all the little festivals we have going on in the summer. I used the color combo from Play Date Cafe, I had found the perfect Basic Grey paper to go with it, and some ribbon in my stash that could've been made for it. I love when that happens!

Hello! I didn't think I was going to be able to get this card done by today - I was so not in the zone! But I pulled through and here it is. I used a couple challenges to help spark the mojo - Embellish magazine's color challenge (with the requirement of something baby, mom to be, etc.) and seeing that Stamptacular Sunday Challenge had almost the same requirement -it was easy to use my {ippity} set "A Little Buggy" to add the bug requirement. I Love this buggy set from {ippity} - who knew bugs could be so darn cute!

Hello Everybody! It is a beautiful day here today - Sun is shining(which is a big deal for all of us here in Rochester!) and the birds are singing. Todays {FWF} card is done with a little help from the Play Date Cafe challenge using the colors Black, White and a little splash of Blue. I was lucky enough to catch the Store stamping kit on Craftysteals this week and can I just mention that they have super fast shipping! What an awesome day yesterday! Buffalo Stamps and Stuff was lucky enough to get Tim Holtz to come out and hold some Workshops - Follow the link to see some amazing pictures form the classes. My friend and I were a couple of 90 lucky ladies to take part in one of the workshops - "Generation Grunge." How great would it have been to take all four classes! Huge Thanks go out to Sharon for getting such a great talent to share his thoughts and ideas with us - and to make such a great experience for her scrappers/stampers! I loved the idea of raising a paddle to add product to our bags - what a way to go broke!!! ;-) Up above is the book that we did in our 4 hour class. It is done all from grunge board, grunge paper and regular paper. What a cool way to spend a Saturday afternoon!

Well - todays card came about when I decided to use my KOM that I just got. I fell in love with this landscape one and decided it went well with the Basic Gray paper I just got (Urban Prarie) I paper pieced the image and used the sketch from ICS as inspiration. I love the bright colors in the BG paper - it made me feel happy when I was working with it :-)

Well - I said in my last post that I was in a crafting frenzy and here is proof - second post today :-) This is for week two of the Verve Challenges over at SCS. I broke into the box I got from Crop Chocolate - a more addicting site I don't think you will find! I got some boy themed paper from Making Memories that was calling out to be used for this challenge - esp since we are drawing our inspiration from kids rooms this month. I love the funkiness of the stamps and the paper - I think the long thing is supposed to be a bug - but I think it looks like an island dancer or tribal guy. Anyway - this one ended up being a bunch of fun to do - and kinda nice to play with something that wasn't girly for a change. Thanks for looking!

I have been in a crafting frenzy the past couple days! I guess my mojo finally decided to come visit for a while - yeah! I finally got my card for the week 1 Verve challenge over at SCS done, it is also for the Stamptacular Sunday Challenge. I am loving the inspiration photos that Amber is posting - this week I chose this photo - what a super cute room!

When Life hands you Lemons.......

When I saw the challenge over at the Play Date Cafe of yellow and peach I knew the perfect stamp I had to use. I have been itching to ink up these from the March Store Kit from Unity Stamp Co. Now, I was not thrilled with this color combo - kinda washed out and girly for me - but it came together a little easier for me since I came across the perfect paper(as I was searching for a different card of course!) I used the sketch from CPS for additional inspiration. I colored the lemonade pitcher with copics, the lemons with Smooch and coverd it all with crystal effcts to make look like glass, and a little glitter on the lemon in the sentiment. All in all I am happy how it turned out - hope you enjoy! Thanks for stopping by!

Hi All! Boy how time flies by when everything is off by a day! I kept thinking I had an extra day to do this - but I got it done anyway :-) I was flipping through my stamps and felt that this was a great sentiment - especially for the upcoming summer - just a little reminder to slow down and enjoy everything that is around us. I used the ColorQ color challenge, which also put me in mind of a hot summer day. The DP colors washed out a bit in the photo, what vibrant colors they are! I used my smooches on the toadstools to give a little shimmer and color, and embossed the sentiment to add a little dimension.

Butterfly Verve Challenge

Hi All! Just got the card for the Verve Challenge over on SCS done. Cute sketch again from Amber - our inspiration was to come from our own craft rooms. I decided to use some new paper that I got from the Buffalo Creating Keepsakes convention. Boy was that fun! There was some great stuff - I could've spent about ten times more than I did! I also used the challenge from Embellish Magazine which was to use the colors green, black and kraft, with a butterfly. I dug out a stamp that I had gotten from the dollar store(Shhhh...don't tell!) that I colored in with colored pencils. The flowers are die cut from a Tim Holtz Sizzix die from felt and paper, threw some brads in the middle and call it a day! All in all it came together faster than I expected when I first saw the sketch over at Verve - I have to say - the sketch kinda scared me! Thaks for looking!

Good Morning - Happy Sunday! I did this card for the Embellish Magazine Color Challenge and I totally cased this card by Mariana - what a beautiful card Mariana did! The images are form Unity's May Store KOM - what great images are in that kit! I kept it nice and soft by stmping in Versamark and applying chalks to give it a little watercolor effect. The sentiment is up on foam tape to give dimension to the card.

Well I tried to use no embellies at all for the OLW3 challenge at the Simplicity blog, and I almost did it! But then I had to put a couple little pearls in the saying - I couldn't help myself! :-) The main focus of the challenge was to use the extra punctuation that always comes with stamping sets (and are always forgotten about!) I kinda cheated because the brackets on the sentiment were already a part of the stamp. Both stamps are from {ippity} the sentiment from the Love in Return set and the heart from Music of my Heart both are for sale on my {ippity} blog. A really clean and simple card. I didn't plan for it to be a two post day, but, as I was blog hopping, boy are there some great blogs out there! I came across this blog http://simplicitybylateblossom.blogspot.com/ and decided to play along with the great challenge there while watching Lost. The one layer challenge is always tough - it just doesn't seem finished until there are layers, lol! For this card I chose to use Regal Greetings by {ippity} just click on the link to purchase. The twist for this challenge was to use flock or glitter, so I choose glitter. I added some crystals for a little bling adding a little demension and color without adding layers.

Mother's Day

I am uploaded this early even though this was a Mother's Day request from my Mom (I will give a shout out to her - Hi Mom!) My cousin found this stamp set at a garage sale - it had no name on it and love to be able to give credit where credit is due - so if anyone happens to know who made it, please let me know. I have a picture of the whole set down below. Anyway - I digress - I kept the card fairly simple so the focus is on the flapper girl. I stamped her then paper pieced her dress from DP and cardstock. She was holding a fan in her hand so I cut a small slit next to her dress to anchor some small feathers I got from AC Moore. I hate how photos sometime change the colors around - the feathers are a much better match to the dress in RL - oh well. This card was perfect for a couple challenges - which is why it is getting posted earlier and Mom is getting a different one! :) It is for the Stamptacular Sunday , Cowgirl's very first challenge(Congrats), and for the OCC challenges(not a flower in sight!).

Well, I haven't had as much time for crafting as I would've liked but I did get my card done for the Verve challenge over at SCS. Our room this month is a visit to the crafting room and the pics to inspire us are inspiring me more than on the card level! Oh, to have a studio like any one of them!! It is good to have a dream! lol. Any way, I found a curtain in the first pic that just captured my attention and away I ran. I also used the color challenge over at ColourQ - actually I finished my card and then realized with a minor change of button color I used the colors without realizing it - I love happy mistakes! I used my new {ippity} set (Simply Home - for sale here) I Distressed my CB embossed panel with shabby shutters ink and pretty much stuck with the monochromatic look from there. All in all it was a fun and simple card to make

Wow - is it Thursday already? Boy is time flying this week. Well, I am up to the third challenge of Unity's Anniversary week on SCS and we were tasked with using our first Unity. Luckily for me it hasn't been so long ago that I have forgotten which stamps I got first ;-). I chose this particular stamp since I have not had a chance to ink it up yet and it was feeling a bit neglected! I decided to use PDCC's color challenge and CPS's sketch to help with my inspiration. I love to go out and find all the great challenges that are out there, I find that it really helps to focus my creativity (well, once I can tear myself away from looking at all the great blogs and sites that are out there!) Here is my card that I did for Unity's Anniversary Challenge over at SCS. They have been doing tons of fun games and giveaways and if you haven't yet - go take a look! Anyway - todays challenge is for the birds - literally! There has to be a bird or tree incorporated somewhere in card - so I broke out one of my new {ippity} stamps - Music of My Heart (for sale here) I followed the sketch over at the Sketch Girl blog. I used my cuttlebug to emboss the french script on cream parchment, tore it off center and used Ranger Walnut Stain Distress Ink to distress the emossing and edges. I cut out the bird I stamped with the distress ink and accented with gold lame smooch ink. Using my Spellbinders Fancy tags I stamped the thank you sentiment (hopefully unity will forgive me - i left off an extra "many" that just didn't fit -lol) I used my smooch around the edge of the label, added a couple flowers topped off with a crystal brad and it is done. This is for the Unity Anniversary Challenge on SCS - They are celebrating two years, how exciting! I am a relative newbie to Unity - I didn't find them till last December and I fell in love hard! :-) They have some great stamps! Anyway - I decided to combine this with the PDC color challenge - the colors actually coordinate a bit better in real life - some things just don't translate well, lol. Well - I finally got my {ippity} stamps and couldn't wait to ink them up, so I decided to use them for the Verve challenge over on SCS. I used the Where you Should Be set (which you can buy here). I used the second Living Room picture that was our twist (I loved the colors - reminded me of Dylan's Candy Bar in NYC) so it ended up being very pink and girly - love it! The shimmer seen in the photo is Smooch Spritz -my first time really playing with it even though I have had it a while. I paper pieced the leaves on the branch stamp and used the coordinating papers to layer. Thanks for looking!

I am soooo excited - finally got my {ippity} stamps and couldn't wait to use them. I decided to make my first project the {ippiy} challenge (scallops) on SCS and a challenge I came across in my blog travels. You can find it here, it is deceptively simple with only one layer. Easy challenge - right? Not exactly - after working with layers for so long, you don't realize the thought pattern you get trapped in. Any way - it was a great excuse to ink up my {ippity} for the first time. I used the Scallops from Sweet Thoughts of Spring and the sentiment and tree from Stragiht from the Heart both of which can be purchased here. All is stamped in Chocolate Ancient page ink on parchment card stock I got from Staples. The heart in the tree is accented with red marker and then with Smooch ink to give it a bit of shimmer. Rounded the two corners and it was done! Simple, easy and way easier to fit in a card! :-) Thanks for looking!

Verve Stamps is having a new release coming this Friday (Can't wait to see them - the sneak peeks are too tempting!) and they have a new challenge just for the release over at SCS. The First of five is a color challenge of Orange, Aqua, and Green. I cheated a little by darkening the aqua to more of a turquoise. A couple new toys were the focus - a brand new EK Sucess border punch and a new Inkadinkado $ stamp. I thought I would follow the unspoken beach theme with the little crab - so adorable. I paper pieced his shell, colored him with pencils and a little crystal effects for his eyes. I also snuck over to the CPS site to find a sketch to follow and thought this weeks sketch went well with the colors and stamp. Thanks for looking!

Well - as I was out looking at everyone elses blogs I found a sketch at Our Creative Corner that I thought was going to be super hard - and found it to be easier than I thought. I was itching to try out a digi stamp - I have found a bunch of super cute ones - but haven't tried them yet. So I broke out one from Sassy Studio Designs - they have some very cute designs. I can't wait to try some more of them. TFL!
